According to its Constitution, the Cattle Brokers Centre for Domestic Products was founded to encourage by all means the development of agricultural and cattle industries, defending their interests in the relationship with transport companies, markets, credit institutions and everything connected to them, obtaining the best possible advantages for the national production.
Those were the aims of the people who founded the centre as well as of those who today follow the same trend. D. Antonio F. Crouzel organized this centre in 1912 with the help of a group of enthusiastic colleague. Many of the present cattle dealer offices still bear their names.
In the same year President Roque Saenz Peña obtained from National Congress the law which assured the country’s political peace. At the time as at present Argentina’s wealth lay in its land, this being the basic source of its economy.
The cattle broker was then an important character essential to product commercialization. For cattle owners who sold at the local market, the cattle dealer was much more than just a name, itwas an institution in which they could fully rely on.
Thus the centre was founded with a common purpose which in the long run would benefit the whole country particularly cattle owners. As a result Liniers Market is a symbol of the effective perfermance of the centre’s activities as regards the market system in cattle trading
